I am in the process of writing a teen fiction horse book, and I am really enjoying writing it! In my book, there is mainly horses, a little romance, and just basically a teenaged girl's life.
But once in a while, I get writer's block and it's hard to get past that and keep writing.
I have some really good ideas and I definitely am enjoying writing the book, but does anyone have any ideas on how to help get through writer's block and be motivated to write?
Thanks!

"Join Up"
I work at a riding camp, and at the camp, there is an 11 year old Mustang gelding who is very high energy. He is used in the camp program for intermediate riders around the age of 12. Every morning, before being ridden, he needs to be lunged to get some of the extra energy out of his system; so this morning, I free-lunged him in the round sand ring and tried doing "join up", a training technique that Monty Roberts developed. I succeeded!
I originally read about "join up" in the "Heartland" book series by Lauren Brooke.
Basically, you drive the horse around the ring like regular lunging, (making the horse do some trotting, cantering, and some changing direction), and while doing this, look for signs that the horse wants to "join up" with you. The signs seem to normally be when the horse is cantering. He will lower his head, lick his lips, point his inside ear toward you, and he, doing some or all of these things, means he is submitting to your authority and is ready to join up with you! When you see these signs, drop the lung whip or rope you were driving him around with, and turn away from him. This is how you invite him to come to you. Then the horse should slowly, but confidently walk up and stand behind you. Join up!!! Now see if the horse will follow you around, walking, turning, and circling in the ring. If the horse does, you have definitely joined up with him!
So, I just wanted to tell you all about Monty Roberts' training technique I did today!

My First Blog Post!
Howdy, Horse-lovers!
My name is Julie. I'm 15 years old and I live in upstate, NY. I love riding, writing, swimming, bike-riding, listening to music, and playing with my Sheltie/Corgi puppy!
I started this blog, because I thought it would be good if I could sharpen my writing skills by blogging about riding, horse training, and everything that involves horses! And I'll talk about writing too!
Feel free to leave comments on my blog posts. ;)
So, I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you all what my blog is about!
